Our regular round-up of the latest major CIO appointments from around the world:

Australia

Financial services firm Zurich Australia has named Scott Watters as CIO following the promotion of Bobby Lehane into the position of COO for Zurich Asia-Pacific General Insurance.

Queensland-based mining company Macarthur Coal is looking for a new CIO, following the recent departure of David Rose.

Bob Correll, CIO of the Department of Immigration and Citizenship has retired and is replaced by Tony Kwan, formerly CIO at the Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs.

Belgium

Former GSK Biologicals IT Director Minh Hua has become CIO at Magotteaux, the metals, engineering and foundry group.

Bermuda

Bacardi, the largest privately held spirits company in the world, has announced Caroline Basyn as its global CIO. She will be based in Geneva, Switzerland.

Canada

IT infrastructure specialist Rigstar Communications has hired Mark Fossen as its new CIO.

France

Dresser-Rand, the Le Havre-based engineering services company, has hired Philippe Bailly as Head of IT for EMEA.

Healthcare company Sanofi-Aventis has confirmed Gabriele Welt as its European CIO, with Maxime Moreau succeeding her at the German branch.

Germany

Telco Vodafone Germany has installed Christoph Böhm as its CIO, succeeding Wilhelm Pletschen, who retired in the spring following a career of more than 30 years at Vodafone.

International coffee shop chain Tchibo has strengthened its board with the appointment of Holger Bellmann to the newly-created role of chief of IT, logistics and production.

Following Dr. Ralf Schneider’s appointment as CIO for the Allianz Group, Alexander Vollert has been appointed a member of the board with responsibility for company organization/IT, as well as becoming COO of Allianz Deutschland.

Liberia

The CIO of mobile phone company MTN Ghana, Mazen Mroue, has been appointed as CEO of MTN Liberia.

Spain

Reparalia, the Madrid-based emergency home care chain, has appointed Jose Luis Anton to the role of CIO.

Sweden

Marcus Claesson has become group CIO at consumer goods giant Electrolux.

Telecoms operator Tele2 has announced that Joachim Horn has been appointed chief technology and information officer.

Mobile telecoms company Ericsson has made Petter Jartby CIO of its IT division.

USA

SCS Engineers has announced that Jay Hatho has joined the firm as SVP and CIO.

Retail chain Finish Line has appointed Terry Ledbetter as CIO.

Banking and security technology company Diebold has announced Scott M Angelo as VP and CIO.

Selective Insurance Group has appointed Ronald St. Clair as EVP and CIO.

Global automotive retail consulting firm Urban Science has hired Greg Davidson as CIO.

Retailer Sports Authority has appointed Fred Argir as its new SVP and CIO.

Joseph Held has been named SVP and global CIO at The Reader’s Digest Association.

Red Lion Hotels Corp has promoted David Barbieri to SVP and CIO.

Arcadian Health
has named Prudence Kuai as its new CIO.

Cable entertainment and broadband provider Cox Communications has named Kevin Hart as EVP and CIO.

Tech company NVIDIA has hired Bob Worrall, former CIO at Sun Microsystems, as its new CIO.
