Mobile working can all too frequently become a race against the rapidly-depleting battery meter
The speed and capacity of mobile PCs is continuing to grow at an incredible pace, while form factors continue to shrink. Battery life, however, has failed to keep up, meaning users still have to carry around bulky chargers, grabbing a quick boost from the mains whenever and wherever they can. Sometimes, like on long-haul flights, this just isn’t possible so there is now a growing demand from mobile workers for devices that will run for an entire working day on a single battery charge.
This is an issue that has been addressed by Fujitsu, which is aiming to deliver true mobility with its new LIFEBOOK series of notebooks. They run as much as 75% longer than previous generations without the need for a top-up – which makes for more productive working, plus fewer CO2 emissions.
Fujitsu claims a runtime of up to 18 hours on the LIFEBOOK E780 which uses a combination of the latest lithium-ion batteries, optimised circuitry, energy-efficient displays and an “EcoButton” that manages the most power-hungry functions. Equipped with one of these, you shouldn’t get the red light even if you’re on the red-eye.
