Canada

The Federal Treasury Board of Canada has appointed Benoit Long as its new CTO. Long was formerly CIO at The Credit Valley Hospital and Trillium Health Centre.

USA

Robert Carey is leaving his post as the Department of Navy's CIO to become director of strategy and policy at the Navy's Fleet Cyber Command.

Grocery chain Supervalu has named Wayne Shurts as its new EVP and CIO, who most recently served as global CIO at Cadbury.

The HJ Heinz Company announced that Karen Alber has been promoted to SVP CIO and global program management officer and moves to the Office of the Chairman, the most senior policy-making executive management group in the company.

American Electric Power has named Pablo Vegas as VP of IT and CIO.

Faced with the horrendous Gulf of Mexico oil spill, the US Department of the Interior has promoted Bernard Mazer into the department's top CIO spot, from being CIO at Interior's Fish and Wildlife Service. He replaced Sanjeev Bhagowalia, who joined the US General Services Administration.

NYC Health and Hospitals, the largest municipal hospital and health care system in the US, has named Bert Robles as SVP of IT and corporate CIO.

The University of California, San Francisco has appointed Elazar Harel as VP for IT and CIO.

The University of Florida has named Elias Eldayrie as VP and CIO.

Ken Stafford, previously vice-chancellor for technology at the University of Denver, has joined Kansas State University as CIO.
