Which CIOs are heading where?
Terry Kline has taken over the reins at General Motors (GM) from veteran CIO Ralph Szygenda, who retired in October. Kline, previously GM's process information officer for product development, will manage one of the world's biggest IT budgets and lead a 100,000 desktop revamp to kick-start a productivity drive.
Scott Sandschafer has arrived at Chrysler Group as VP and CIO to run all IT applications and infrastructure in the US, Canada, Mexico, Europe and Asia. He comes in from Fiat CNH America.
Timothy McCabe has been promoted to VP and CIO at Delphi, having been director of information technology strategy and sourcing management at the US-based auto-parts company. Formerly he was GM's lead director of global outsourcing.
Former BT executive Claire Rawlins has been appointed CIO at NBN, the Melbourne-based organisation behind Australia's national broadband network. Rawlins will head up the team responsible for rolling-out the $43 billion company's IT infrastructure.

A Computerworld survey shows the average CIO salary in the US for 2009 was $170,853, a 1.2% drop on last year's average. Discretionary pay among the country's top IT decision-makers has also fallen, according to CIO magazine, with 37 of the top 52 earners receiving no bonus. That was in sharp contrast to 2008 when total compensation among the top 10 ran from $3.5 million to $28.3 million.
